Noella, Perth Newborn Photoshoot

Noella was the sweetest little gal, just 5 days old and the perfect model, making my job as a newborn photographer so easy! I mean just look at that little face!

When is the perfect time for a newborn photoshoot you ask? For these free sleepy newborn images I recommend 2-12 days, while they’re still sleepy and so easy to put to sleep and move around. But if you’ve missed the boat or you aren’t feeling up to them just yet there is no real perfect time, when they’re older it sometimes just takes a little longer to get them to sleep or to move them around but its still so worth capturing, as everyone always says they grow soooo fast and this is the perfect way to freeze this ever fleeting moment in your families life!

The next question I get asked a lot is do we need to prepare anything? Nope not really! I bring the blankets, cover, wraps, baskets. A little bow is sometimes a super cute addition if you have one and if you guys dress in neutrals we really cant go wrong.

Do you come to us? Absolutely, I will use a corner in your house where the lighting is lovely, usually your bedroom or living area but sometimes even your bathroom.

How long do newborn sessions go for? It totally ranges on how bub is going. If we can get your little one asleep quickly then usually an hour but if theyre needing some extra tlc then sometimes even two hours. Feeding and changing your bub before I get there helps this but there is no way to control how your little one will do that day so we just role with it.

Family summer session at Trigg beach

Perth you did it again, I couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening for a family photoshoot down at the beach.

For every family session my goal is to let your little one’s personalities shine through. I want to give you images that wholly represent you and capture the essence of the love you share together. Part of this is letting kids be kids, let them run, let them cry, let them be crazy or quiet, whatever there personality is- let it shine through. If that means I spend half the time trying to keep up with them or I'm quietly walking with them as they explore thats fine by me!

These little loves were so sweet, it was one of the hottest summer days in Perth but that didn’t bother them. It was over 40 degrees but I decided not to cancel hoping it would cool down as the sun set, and it did. Im so glad we went ahead, the hot day made for a balmy perfect summer evening down by the ocean. It was the sort of evening you spend down at the beach and want to remember forever, not a lick of wind and the warm water making it literally perfect.

A+D Coast Port beach wedding

Alysha and David’s wedding was on the most stunning winters day, not a lick of wind, sunny and warm and located right on the beach at Coast Port in Fremantle. What more could these lovers want? They met at work on an offshore rig and now the rest is history. Alysha wore a beautiful Pronovias gown from Brides by Design and then surprised us all at the reception by changing in a lovely Rosa Clará Couture Wedding slip dress. These guys wanted a relaxed but super fun day, choosing that as your vibe is a big part of your day being relaxed and fun but also choosing vendors like that will go a long way. If your looking for a fun lively celebrant then look no further, The Tilers Wife officiated the ceremony and there were plenty of laughs!

I get asked all the time what this difference is between full video coverage and a highlight reel, this is Alysha and David’s highlight wedding film videoed along side photography. I love capturing video and photography together.

Baby number six

Have your pregnancy captured!! You owe it to yourself to remember this journey. There is no right or wrong way to go about it, book in a photography session, call a friend, use your iphone but make sure you document this time. Even if you don’t feel wonderful right now, or it’s been a hard long 9 month’s you’ll be so glad you did. Trust me! In my experience, it’s so wonderful look back on the images and think "‘Hell yeah I did that”. This is Megans sixth and last baby, yep thats right, she’s done this six times and looks fabulous every single time! It’s such a pleasure being able to be apart of this journey each time. We chose the beach because, well who doesn’t love a Perth beach on a sunny summer’s evening and chose a few different dresses, opting to get the bump out at the end for some bump photography in the ocean.

L+K | Cottesloe engagement session

Should you have an engagement or pre wedding photo shoot? YES PLEASE!! Linda and Khang’s engagement photography session was on one of Perth’s windiest days of the year with wind of over 100km an hour but we made it work! We chose a corner of Cottesloe beach that was ever so slightly protected from the wind and then we headed over to Cottesloe civic centre to escape the wind. Using both locations meant we were slightly less wind swept but also gave us two absolutely beautiful back drops, the beach which is one of my favourite spots and the lovely gardens and stairs at Cottesloe civic centre. An engagement session or pre-wedding photoshoot is such a special way to capture you both and the love that you share in one of the most special time’s of your lives but also to get some good practice in before the big day. Sometimes there might be poses or angles you don’t like and this is the perfect time to let me know before the wedding day. So my answer is yes, its always worth documenting this precious time so it can be remembered for years to come.
